Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate
Business Applications Developer
The University of East London is a dynamic and rapidly expanding University at the heart of Europe's largest regeneration area and immediately adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
A partnership between UEL's School of Computing and Technology and Powerchex Ltd (a pre-employment screening company), has resulted in a two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project.
The purpose of the partnership is to develop a customised, secure and automated IT infrastructure for Powerchex Ltd, which will enable the company to continue its exponential growth and attract large corporate customers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team member with a positive attitude, dedication and willingness to work hard. The ideal candidate will be able to (or will have the ability and skill set to learn to) communicate at a senior level. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who does not take the “status quo” as given and will be willing and able to think outside the box. The Associate will be flexible with an ability to think on their feet and adjust to developing expectations and requirements. Ambition to be the best will make this Associate a very good fit for Powerchex Ltd.
Ideally, the candidate would hold an upper second or first class honours degree in a related subject (e.g. Computing) and should have experience of information systems development using state of the art programming environment (e.g. Java, .Net, XML). A strong understanding of business objectives and operations and experience of working in a small–medium sized business environment is preferable. Experience of the pre-employment screening industry is desirable but not essential as is familiarity with project management and marketing.
The candidate will be self motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic and be prepared to' buy in' to this exciting opportunity. The Associate must be able to work alone and successfully manage the development of this programme. Good interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills are essential as well as the ability to give inspiring presentations and conduct staff training.
The successful applicant will be employed by UEL but work primarily at Powerchex Ltd in Wapping, London. A highly regarded personal development and training scheme is included. Associates will have the opportunity to complete an NVQ4 in Management.
